Professional consideration

Join Our Team

Ellis & Associates selectively considers highly accomplished professionals whose academic credentials, professional record, research capability, judgment, integrity, and demonstrated achievement meet exceptionally high standards.

About the Process

Our recruitment process is intentionally selective and is not designed for entry-level candidates or individuals seeking primarily to develop experience. Applicants should possess significant professional maturity, an established record of achievement, and the ability to assume substantial responsibility with limited supervision. Consideration is based on the totality of an applicant's credentials, experience, accomplishments, professional standing, and alignment with current or anticipated organizational needs.

Candidate Profile

For advanced professional consideration, applicants should ordinarily possess an earned Ph.D., Ed.D., D.B.A., J.S.D., or comparable terminal degree from an appropriately accredited or internationally recognized institution. Candidates should generally possess no fewer than ten years of substantial professional experience in research, higher education, consulting, organizational leadership, institutional analysis, advanced methodology, strategic advisory work, legal or regulatory analysis, program evaluation, or another highly specialized field. Educational credentials should be supported by a demonstrated history of meaningful professional accomplishment and increasing responsibility.

Academic credentials alone are not sufficient for competitive consideration. Applicants should demonstrate sustained professional achievement, independent judgment, analytical strength, advanced written communication, and the ability to produce work capable of withstanding rigorous academic, organizational, or professional review. Successful candidates will ordinarily have established a record that distinguishes them within their respective field or area of specialization.

Strong consideration may be given to individuals with evidence of advanced research capability, university teaching, doctoral supervision, executive or institutional leadership, complex consulting engagements, major research projects, organizational assessment, program evaluation, or other significant professional contributions. Ellis & Associates also values applicants who have successfully worked across multiple professional environments or disciplines. Exceptional candidates should be able to demonstrate both depth of expertise and the professional adaptability required for complex engagements.

Professional Standards

Applicants should demonstrate exceptional written communication, analytical reasoning, professional judgment, discretion, reliability, independence, and attention to detail. Candidates must be capable of managing complex assignments, working with confidential or sensitive information, meeting demanding deadlines, and communicating effectively with senior professionals and institutional stakeholders. The ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accountability is essential.

Ellis & Associates places substantial importance on intellectual independence, professional integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and personal accountability. Candidates should demonstrate a history of responsible decision making and professional conduct within academic, organizational, research, consulting, legal, or other advanced professional environments. Applicants whose professional background reflects significant responsibility and trusted service will receive stronger consideration.

Professional References

Applicants must provide a minimum of three strong professional references who can offer substantive evaluations of the applicant's professional performance and qualifications. References should ordinarily come from individuals who have directly supervised, formally evaluated, or held significant professional responsibility over the applicant's work. Appropriate references may include senior executives, deans, department chairs, research directors, senior administrators, organizational leaders, managing partners, or similarly situated professionals.

Peer references alone may not satisfy the reference requirement for advanced professional consideration. References should be capable of addressing the applicant's professional judgment, research capability, reliability, leadership, communication, integrity, quality of work, and ability to manage substantial responsibility. Ellis & Associates reserves the right to request additional references when necessary to complete its evaluation.

The organization may independently verify professional and academic information provided during the application process. Applicants should therefore ensure that all submitted information is accurate, complete, and capable of verification. Material inconsistencies or misrepresentations may result in removal from further consideration.

Areas of Professional Consideration

Ellis & Associates may consider accomplished professionals from a broad range of disciplines when their expertise aligns with current or anticipated organizational needs. Relevant backgrounds may include advanced research, higher education, organizational assessment, institutional analysis, strategic advisory work, leadership, methodology, data analysis, program evaluation, legal or regulatory analysis, consulting, project leadership, professional administration, or related areas. The organization intentionally maintains flexibility regarding the types of expertise it may seek at any given time.

Exceptional candidates whose professional backgrounds fall outside these general areas may also receive consideration when their expertise presents substantial value to the organization. Ellis & Associates is particularly interested in individuals who bring uncommon depth of experience, demonstrated professional credibility, and the ability to contribute across complex engagements. The absence of a specifically advertised discipline or title should not prevent a highly qualified professional from submitting an expression of interest.

Selection Process

Ellis & Associates maintains a highly selective professional review process designed to identify individuals whose qualifications substantially exceed minimum expectations. Meeting the stated educational and professional requirements does not guarantee an interview, advancement, or an offer of employment or professional engagement. The organization reserves discretion to determine which applicants warrant further consideration based on its current and anticipated needs.

Candidates may undergo multiple stages of review involving academic credentials, professional experience, written materials, research capability, references, professional accomplishments, and interviews. Additional assessments may be used when appropriate to evaluate analytical ability, subject matter expertise, professional judgment, communication, leadership, or research competence. The nature and extent of the review process may vary depending upon the type and level of professional consideration.

Candidates receiving advanced consideration may be asked to participate in multiple interviews, provide additional professional work products, discuss prior research or consulting engagements, or respond to analytical and organizational scenarios. They may also be asked to demonstrate advanced subject matter expertise relevant to the organization's work. Final consideration may include independent credential verification, reference evaluation, employment verification, and professional background review.

Desired Compensation

Applicants will be required to state their desired compensation as part of the application process. Candidates should provide an amount or range that accurately reflects their professional expectations, credentials, experience, and the level of responsibility they are prepared to assume. Ellis & Associates does not publish predetermined compensation ranges for general expressions of professional interest.

Submission of desired compensation does not constitute an offer, commitment, or representation regarding compensation. Any compensation arrangement will be determined individually based upon the applicant's qualifications, experience, professional standing, responsibilities, organizational requirements, and the nature of the engagement. Compensation discussions may occur only after sufficient professional review has been completed.

Professional Application

Candidates seeking consideration must submit a complete professional application. Applications should be comprehensive enough to permit a meaningful evaluation of the applicant's academic preparation, professional history, achievements, and suitability for advanced professional consideration. Incomplete applications may not receive further review.

Submission of an application does not create an obligation on the part of Ellis & Associates to interview, employ, engage, or otherwise respond to an applicant. Applications may be considered for current or future organizational needs depending upon professional qualifications and organizational priorities. Because of the selective nature of the process, only applicants whose credentials and experience warrant further consideration may be contacted.
